PRIVACY POLICY
Web Dev Awards is committed to protecting user privacy, maintaining data security, and operating a transparent, privacy-first digital publication. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how your data is handled.
Information We Process
We process personal data necessary to evaluate submissions, operate user accounts, process payments, and respond to inquiries. This includes full names, email addresses, usernames, studio profiles, website URLs, payment transaction IDs (via Stripe), IP addresses for security logging, and direct correspondence records.
Privacy-First Cookieless Analytics
We collect cookieless, first-party statistics to understand overall traffic trends and improve site performance. We do not use third-party tracking pixels, create persistent visitor IDs, cross-site track users, build behavioral profiles, or sell data to advertisers. Aggregate metrics are collected strictly for internal operational reporting.
Cookies & Local Storage Controls
Essential cookies and local storage tokens support core platform functionality, including secure session management, CSRF protection, payment processing, and cookie consent preferences. Non-essential cookies (such as analytics or external video embeds) remain disabled by default until you grant explicit consent via Manage Cookies in the footer.
Data Retention & Purpose
User account credentials and submission tracking records are retained for as long as your account remains active or as needed to maintain permanent editorial archive entries. Payment records are retained in compliance with statutory tax and accounting obligations. Inactive accounts may be archived after extended inactivity.
Subprocessors & Technical Infrastructure
We share data with trusted infrastructure subprocessors under strict data protection agreements: Stripe (payment processing), PostgreSQL on Neon (secure database storage), ZeptoMail (transactional email delivery), Cloudflare (CDN, media hosting, and DDoS protection), and Vercel (application hosting).
Data Subject Rights (GDPR & UK GDPR)
Under applicable data protection laws, you have the right to access, rectify, port, or request erasure of your personal data. You may also object to processing or withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time. To exercise your rights, submit a request to hello@webdevawards.org.
Security & Encryption Controls
All data transmissions across Web Dev Awards are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3). Sensitive authentication credentials and session tokens are protected using industry-standard password hashing (argon2id) and httpOnly, Secure cookie attributes.
